In addition to the G600 Android smartphone, Huawei announced two new Android tablets, the MediaPad 10 FHD and the MediaPad 7 Lite. The MediaPad 10 FHD is a 10.1-inch Android 4.0 tablet with a 1920×1200 IPS LCD display, a 1.4GHz quad-core SOC, a 6600mAh battery and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of capturing 1080p video encased in an aluminum body. Just like Asus’s popular Transformer Prime tablets, the MediaPad 10 FHD is capable of connecting to an optional keyboard dock with VGA and HDMI outputs, and it will be made available in WiFi-only, 3G+WiFi and LTE+WiFi versions. It has apparently gone on sale in China and will begin shipping to selected European countries next month.
On the other hand, the MediaPad 7 Lite is a considerably lower-specced Android 4.0 tablet with a 7-inch 1024×600 LCD display, a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A8 SOC. It does have an aluminum unibody design, however, and is capable of making voice calls and sending text messages. Not that any self-respecting person would want to hold a 7-inch tablet up to one’s head, though.
