Obsidian Entertainment is teasing Project X on its website

One of the most underrated game developers of this generation, Obsidian, is famous for making brilliant games with deep and engaging storylines that sometimes also tackle mature subjects such as philosophy. Obsidian is also known for making games that are so buggy that riding a bike while drunk would be a more stable experience. The company is now ready for its fabled Project X game, and is teasing information about it on the website.

On going to the Obsidian websites, you will be greeted with a big 3 inside a dragon eating itself, along with a couple of quotes: “The book unread is unwritten. The reason we don’t explain it is the reason we use it. Its power is in its mystery. That is the Leaden Key, in part, in whole. Is it clear?”and “Digging for truth buries the seeker.” And the source code for the page has another line: “Two centuries ago, your divine champion told the people of Dyrwood to grovel at his feet. If you've come on pilgrimage to the blasted crater that was our reply, Godhammer Citadel is *that* way.”

According to a report by OnlySP, the page had the number 4 inside the dragon and with different quotes: “What do the words mean?” and “Nothing. The Dirge of Eir Glanfath is sound without form, a lone voice crying out in mourning because it must.” Also, some anonymous users found certain lines of text in the source code for the page. “To tenderness, fellowship. To fellowship, vigilance. So bring we all to the Night Market. I am the Spindle of Esenath. Know me by my light and stand with me in darkness.”

The big 3 could hint to mostly two games – a sequel to Neverwinter Nights 2 or a sequel to Knights of the Old Republic 2 – but the quotes themselves have a fantasy feel to them, giving more credence to it being a new Neverwinter Nights game. But with the previous number being 4, this could point more towards being a countdown of some sort. So far, the game has only been referred to by Obsidian as Project X and the company has confirmed that the game will be an RPG (Role Playing Game). Judging by the speed of the countdown, it looks like we can expect news on the new project by Friday.

Am I the only person who is hoping that Project X is actually a sequel to Alpha Protocol, but set in a fantasy world? Let us know what you think Project X could be in the comments section below.
