Capcom releases official trailer for Resident Evil 6

One of the most famous and influential series in the survival horror genre has been the Resident Evil series. Capcom is all set to launch the latest game in the series, titled Resident Evil 6. As the release date for the game gets ever closer, Capcom has released a new trailer that shows some of the story bits of the upcoming survival horror game. The trailer shows off the tagline of the game – No Hope Left – which is also the hashtag that the Wesker & Sons Twitter account was using as part of Capcom’s Alternate Reality Game (ARG).

Earlier this month, Capcom announced the release date for a new demo of Resident Evil 6. The new demo will be available on 18 September, and has all new content as opposed to the demo that Capcom had released with Dragon's Dogma. Players will be able to dive into content from Resident Evil 6's three main campaigns, either solo or partnering up via online co-op, and experience firsthand why it is one of this year's most hotly anticipated titles. The game allows you to play as either Leon Kennedy or Helena Harper and further explore the dark corridors and moonlit grounds of Ivy University, swarming with the victims of the latest bioterrorist attack.

Resident Evil is one of Capcom’s most successful franchises yet. Resident Evil 6 was originally set to have three playable characters – Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Jake Muller, all three with their own storylines that will eventually converge. Though recently, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu revealed that Resident Evil 6 will feature a fourth campaign that can be unlocked. The fourth campaign will feature Ada Wong as a playable character and will be unlocked once the three main campaigns of the game have been cleared.
Scared yet?
No hope left

In an interview with Famitsu, Executive Producer, Hiroyuki Kobayashi talked about some of the details about Ada’s campaign. “Ada’s story will clear up the mysteries from the other scenarios,”said Kobayashi. “Her scenario is played solo, without a partner character. When playing as Leon and the other main characters, you may end up encountering other players who are controlling Ada”.

Another big feature for Resident Evil 6 is Residentevil.net. The free online service got a trailerback in August, which showed off many of the features of the service, such as giving Capcom the capability to hold events, which will reward gamers with in-game items such as skins. Here’s an example of one such event according to Capcom: “let's say one weekend the goal is to kill 10,000 zombies. Everyone who has an RE.net account and plays during that time period will receive RE.net points that can be redeemed on the site for a variety of goodies - chief among them new costumes that appear in the actual game.”

Resident Evil 6 is scheduled for a release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 across Europe and North America on October 2. A PC version will follow soon.
