Intel WiDi is a technology that allows users to wirelessly share content being displayed on your PC monitor with a compatible display or HDTV. This not only removes the necessity of using untidy cables, but also enables you to easily display your videos and movies on a screen in another room. Intel Wireless Display 2.0 technology supports display resolutions of up 1080p, which means one does not have to compromise on image quality, while HDCP 2.0 and 5.1 Surround Sound ensure excellent audio.
Gigabyte claims that you can broadcast HD content from an office PC to the living room using the Gigabyte 7 series Mini-ITX motherboards. The Dual LAN configuration can be used to connect both broadband Internet and NAS, while the onboard Intel WiDi can be used to broadcast HD content to the living room TV.
A PC based on a Gigabyte 7 series Mini-ITX motherboard can be used to supplement any home theatre setup, displaying media content to a HD TV with an additional control display that allows users to monitor, manage and cue up streaming and stored media content. The PC can also be connected to broadband Internet, acting as a Wi-Fi access point. Additional HDTVs can receive content via Intel WiDi in another room, e.g. the bedroom or kitchen.
Gigabyte 7 series Mini-ITX motherboards are also useful as a platform for building your own portable gaming PC. With an Intel i7 Core processor and Intel HD4000 graphics or even a discrete graphics card, DIY builders will be impressed with how much of a gaming performance can be utilized into a Mini-ITX chassis.
