Yesterday we pieced together all the iPhone 5 parts that had leaked, and it painted a picture of analmost complete phone that is slightly bigger and slightly thinner than the iPhone 4S. It also revealed that Apple expects to announce the iPhone 5 on September 12, and then start selling it on September 21.
Some new information has appeared today, though. Come September 12 Apple won’t just reveal its latest smartphone, you’ll also be able to pre-order it.
Apparently consumers in the US will get priority and will be able to pre-order the iPhone 5 nine days before it goes on sale in the territory. That means the expected long queues outside Apple Stores on September 21 will be a mix of those waiting to collect their pre-ordered phone and the rest hoping Apple will have some stock left for them, too.
Anyone wanting an iPhone 5 outside of the US may have to wait longer. The second batch of stock is expected to arrive on October 5, when Apple is thought to launch the phone officially across Europe and other important non-US locations.
Demand for the iPhone 5 is going to be very high, and it’s unlikely Apple will be able to keep up with demand. If you want one on release day then a pre-order is a must. However, even securing a pre-order may be tough if millions of Apple fans are flooding the Internet and stores on September 12.
Apple won’t confirm or deny this is going to happen until it actually does. However, with this news spreading like wildfire across the Internet there’s going to be some very upset Apple fans ready to throw money at the company come September 12 if pre-orders don’t go live.
